Mohammed Adil Akhter

Senior Associate, Pakistan

Dr. Mohammed Adil Akhter is a pediatrician and public health leader with over two decades of experience advancing equitable, high-quality healthcare for children and families. Board-certified by the American Board of Pediatrics, he brings a unique blend of international clinical training and deep, field-based expertise in health systems strengthening.

He currently serves as Consultant Pediatric Hospitalist at the Shaukat Khanum Memorial Cancer Hospital & Research Center in Lahore. Previously, he held senior leadership roles as Head of the Primary Care Program (North) and Director of Maternal, Newborn, Child Health & Nutrition (MNCH&N) at The Indus Hospital & Health Network, where he led the design and implementation of impactful, community-centered health programs.

As Senior Associate at the Grassroots Health, Education, and Development Initiative, Adil supports scalable, community-led solutions to improve access and outcomes in underserved settings. His leadership is grounded in a strong academic foundation, having served as Associate Professor and Head of the Department of Pediatrics at several prominent medical universities.

His research portfolio focuses on pediatric health, immunization, and thalassemia, and he is widely published in these areas. Adil is also an Executive Member of the Pakistan Pediatric Association (Punjab Chapter) and serves on the Medical Advisory Board of the Thalassemia Federation of Pakistan. In recognition of his contributions to thalassemia care, he was awarded a Presidential Certificate of Appreciation.

Beyond his clinical and academic work, Adil is committed to social impact. As a Trustee of The Eisaar Trust, he helps lead initiatives that promote health, education, and economic empowerment among marginalized communities.
