Senior Manager
Fatima Miraj is a global health and development professional specializing in women and child health, immunization systems, digital health, and community-based interventions. She works at the intersection of research, policy, and implementation to champion data-driven solutions that strengthen public health infrastructure and advance equity across low- and middle-income countries.
Fatima has extensive experience leading large-scale mixed-methods research and implementation studies across Pakistan, Ethiopia, and the United States. Her portfolio spans programs in health, education, and development economics, including collaboration with the Africa CDC's Health Economics Program to analyze determinants of infant mortality, managing an RCT delivering AI-based self-development courses to 3,000 teachers, piloting an AI-enabled immunization chatbot, and analyzing over 8.8 million electronic immunization records and 20,000+ pregnancy and birth records to evaluate trends in immunization coverage and newborn health outcomes.
She has conducted advanced statistical modeling using DHS data from multiple countries and contributed to economic analyses of health shocks in Nigeria. Fatima brings strong qualitative expertise, having designed and led in-depth interviews, focus group discussions, and cognitive interviews in Ethiopia and Pakistan with policymakers, health workers, educators, and community members. She has worked closely with national and provincial stakeholders on programs related to women’s empowerment, financial literacy, and capacity building.
As Senior Manager at Grassroots, Fatima drives strategic program development, grant acquisition, and scientific dissemination. She leverages her expertise in quantitative and qualitative research to design pragmatic, scalable interventions that address social determinants of health inequity and improve service delivery for underserved populations.
A Fulbright Scholar, Fatima holds an MSc in Global Health from Duke University and a BSc in Economics and Finance from the Lahore School of Economics. With a growing portfolio of peer-reviewed publications and international presentations, she is a committed advocate for evidence-based approaches to improve the health and survival of vulnerable populations and communities globally.
