Ghulam Murtaza is an experienced leader in global health and development with over 15 years of hands-on experience in the successful implementation of large-scale programs that address critical health and humanitarian challenges. Holding a Master’s in Anthropology from Quaid-e-Azam University, Murtaza has dedicated his career to bridging research-driven insights with impactful, field-level program delivery. As Head of Program Implementation at Grassroots, he focuses on advancing social impact initiatives, overseeing program operations, and ensuring continuous improvement through performance monitoring.

Throughout his career, Murtaza has demonstrated exceptional leadership in managing complex, multi-sectoral programs. His expertise spans key areas such as WASH (Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene), Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR), education, and livelihoods. He played a crucial role in coordinating WASH cluster operations during the 2010-11 floods in Pakistan and led disaster response efforts in drought-affected areas in Pakistan. Murtaza’s ability to mobilize resources, manage multi-stakeholder collaborations, and ensure the effective delivery of services in resource-constrained environments has resulted in significant and lasting improvements in the communities he serves.

Beyond his leadership in program implementation, Murtaza is adept at optimizing field-level operations, from developing digitalized survey tools and field protocols to building the capacity of local teams.
