Story of Grassroots

Within the worn walls of Hostel 2 at Chandka Medical College, a quiet dream was born. Farrukh, Subhash, and Vijay—bound by youthful idealism and a shared compassion for the unseen and underserved—envisioned a future where healthcare was a right, not a privilege. In those quiet hours, they spoke of overlooked inequities, forgotten communities, and building a not-for-profit rooted in empathy and action. A promise was made — not in grand declarations, but in a quiet resolve that one day, when they retired, they would return to this calling and bring the vision to life.

Life, with all its unpredictability, led them on different journeys — shaping their skills and deepening their experiences along the way. But despite the years that passed, the shared dream stayed alive, quietly waiting for its time.

Over time, others were drawn to this enduring vision. Mubarak, with his belief in human potential; Danya, driven by compassion for the marginalized; and Nasreen, determined to create lasting change — each felt the same pull. They shared the dream of a world where no life is overlooked, and dignity and health are rights, not privileges.

From the convergence of these journeys, Grassroots arose — not merely as an organization, but as a living testament to the quiet power of a shared vision.

We chose the name Grassroots to reflect our belief that real change begins from the ground up — in communities, through connection, and with dignity. Our logo — one hand uplifting another — symbolizes the essence of our work: collaborative action, mutual support, and the strength found in lifting each other up.

Forged in compassion, tempered by time, and fueled by purpose, Grassroots is more than the sum of its founders. It carries the spirit of those early dreams — dreams shaped by experience, strengthened through challenge, and reignited by a belief that lasting change begins with equity, justice, and unwavering human dignity.

Grassroots is a legacy in motion—a living flame meant to be carried forward by new generations of changemakers. It is a place where action is rooted in empathy, leadership is born of humility, and every step forward honours the quiet promises made long ago—promises that still light the way today.
